This experiment highlights the importance of water purification systems and the industrial purification process. The chemistry involved in flocculation and removal of dissolved nutrients is discussed. The ecological impact of algal blooms is also discussed and how this ultimately relates back to water purification and prevention of pollution. Students will perform chemical reactions to understand the purification processes.
