Students will learn about the human levels of biological organization starting from cells to tissues to organs to organ systems. It will be explained that an organism has multiple organ systems that branch off into even more organs, tissues, and cells. The experiments will focus on the circulatory/cardiovascular system and will demonstrate how the cells, tissues, and organs within the body work together and carry out specific functions in order to pump blood throughout the body. Students will investigate the components of blood, how the heart is a muscle responsible for blood flow and practice measuring their pulse.
